Even though you are a law college student or a Advocate or Politician or Government employee or even a common man , it is a basic duty of a every Indian citizen to know one's own rights and duties.
To avail birth or death certificate, ration card, driving licence, drinking water connection , registration of documents, or else to take action over a complaint registered in the police station .you need not to pay single rupee as bribery ,the only one think you must do is knowing law and following the guildlines mentioned in the RTI act.
If you made a application to any government office ,it is necessary to have evidence for it.For example if you submit the application in personel it is necessary to have attested Xerox copy for that application,or else if they refused to do so.you can send the application or Xerox copy of the application by registered post.and the recepit must be stuck in the Xerox copy with you.
Wait until till 20 to 30 days from date you made the application.if you feel necessary action is not taken then need not to seek anyone for the answer . When you feel your rights is denied , according to RTI act write another letter asking for the information.
If you send a petition under RTI ACT sec 6 it must be answered within 30 days. If they fails to answers as rupees 250 per day or else upto rupees 25000 can be collected as fine from the appropriate officer . Before you get answer , necessary action will be taken on your petition.
